Tactic Systems designs, builds, and operates custom software for clients across web apps, internal tools, workflow automation, and backend platforms. We work across modern full-stack codebases, Xano, Supabase, Vercel, and provider APIs — shipping real products, not just maintaining them.

We are looking for a senior product engineer who can take a problem from idea to shipped software: scoping requirements, designing the architecture, writing the production code, and owning the outcome. You'll be the founder's right hand on the technical side — trusted to build new systems and to keep what we've built running well.

This is a builder's role first. You'll spend most of your time designing and shipping software, with the judgment and ownership to also debug, support, and protect production when it matters.

What You'll Do

  • Design and build new features, services, and entire client systems across the stack in TypeScript/React/Next.js, backend logic, Supabase, Xano, and provider integrations.
  • Turn ambiguous product and client requirements into clear technical designs and shippable software.
  • Architect data models, APIs, and workflows that are simple, scalable, and easy to operate.
  • Write clean, well-tested production code and ship it through clean branches, pull requests, and deployment checks.
  • Improve and refactor existing codebases — paying down tech debt and making systems easier to extend.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues when they arise, across code, data, APIs, Supabase, Xano, Vercel, and provider dashboards.
  • Provide end-user support: triage, troubleshoot, and resolve the issues users report, and keep them informed with clear updates.
  • Verify your work with focused tests, live database/log checks, and API/browser smoke tests before and after deploy.
  • Write clear summaries and build runbooks so the team and clients understand what was built, what changed, and what was verified.
  • Help protect production systems by following careful change-management and secret-handling practices.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong full-stack engineering experience designing and shipping production software with TypeScript, React, Next.js, APIs, and databases.
  • A track record of building features and systems from scratch, not only maintaining existing ones.
  • Solid Postgres/Supabase experience: schema design, migrations, auth/RLS, storage, query performance, and data inspection.
  • Comfortable owning the full lifecycle — design, build, test, deploy, and debug.
  • Willingness to work with Xano, platform APIs, automation tools, and client-specific workflows.
  • Strong Git/GitHub discipline: branches, PRs, reviews, CI, and deployment awareness.
  • Ability to read logs, inspect runtime data, and reproduce issues instead of guessing.
  • Excellent written communication in English; Spanish is a strong plus.
  • High ownership, low ego, and good judgment around production risk.
  • Comfortable handling credentials and environment access through secure tooling such as 1Password.

Nice to Have

  • Experience architecting multi-tenant or client-specific systems from the ground up.
  • Experience with Vercel, Cloudflare, provider APIs, CRMs, or internal admin tools.
  • Experience in product engineering, consulting, agency, or SaaS environments.
  • Familiarity with shipping client-facing features and writing clear technical explanations.
  • Experience building and maintaining multiple products or client systems at once.

You'll Be Successful If

  • You can take a vague idea or requirement and turn it into well-designed, shipped software.
  • You can also take a vague issue and turn it into a precise technical diagnosis when things break.
  • You know when to build, when to refactor, when to repair data, and when to escalate.
  • You ship small, safe, well-tested changes without creating new risk.
  • You document enough that the next engineer — and the next incident — has an easier time.
  • The founder can hand you an outcome and trust it gets built and runs reliably.
